TraceBack is a virtual guide to ancient sites and monuments in Jerusalem. Using
navigation technology the app can locate where you are and offer a variety of sites to
visit and learn about. The information takes in both ancient history and the
contemporary social, political and architectural setting and can transform an ordinary
walk into a unique experience which breaks through barriers of culture and identity.
Users are welcome to create new entries or enrich existing ones with additional
information.
TraceBack is intended for anyone who would like to discover stories from the past and
the present of Jerusalems ancient sites. If you like to explore the daily lives and beliefs
of those who lived here before us, or are knowledgeable about the diverse histories of
sites in Jerusalem and are interested in sharing these with other users, TraceBack is for
you.
TraceBack was developed by “Emek Shaveh”, an organization which works for the
advancement of cultural heritage rights and the safeguarding of antiquities as public
assets belonging to all communities and peoples. We view heritage as a means for
building bridges between peoples and cultures. We hope that this app can become a
dynamic place where hidden stories and new narratives come to light and enrich the
significance of our common cultural heritage.
